In a technological feat, Elon Musk, the CEO of X (formerly known as Twitter), has just dropped some big news as he has just launched an “X Smart TV App” that will let users watch long-form videos, much like what you’d find on YouTube. This move is setting X up to go head-to-head with not just YouTube but even streaming giants like Netflix.
 The X Smart TV App have a user friendly interface pretty similar to YouTube’s, with sections like “Trending” and “For You” to help users find content. So, it looks like things are about to get even more interesting in the world of online video.
XData tweeted, “In the last month, people on X have spent a lot of time watching video – to the tune of 385 million hours! That’s 1.4 trillion seconds, 23 billion minutes, or 16 million days’ worth of video. Let’s watch what happens when you can stream the world in real-time on X Smart TV App!”
It’s worth noting that Fortune actually broke the news about the X Smart TV App launch last month. They mentioned that the app would be especially compatible with devices like Samsung Smart TVs and Amazon devices. This isn’t X’s first attempt at smart TV apps and video streaming devices, though. They’ve tried their hand at this before but ended up discontinuing those efforts after a while. So, while this new app sounds promising, it’ll be interesting to see if it sticks around or follows the same path as X’s previous ventures into TV streaming.
