Seeing the high demand of solar panels this year, the government of Punjab has launched a “CM Punjab Solar Panel Scheme” in which the deserving households will get standalone solar systems free of cost. This new solar panel financing scheme will also help homeowners switch to renewable energy. By enrolling in the solar panel financing scheme, you can significantly reduce the upfront costs of solar installation.
This scheme is for those eligible households who consume 0-200 units of electricity per month. However, on the other hand, the households that consume 201-500 units per month will be getting interest free loan from the government of Punjab in order to install Rooftop Solar Systems. It should be noted that the government of Punjab has launched this scheme under their “Roshan Gharana” programme which has been also approved by Punjab cabinet.
It is pertinent to mention here that a budget of Rs 10 billion has been approved for this programme which consists of a high-end solar panel, invertor, battery and a wiring system. The main purpose behind this scheme is to ensure free access of electricity to all people especially if you come under the eligibility criteria. - A resident of Punjab
- Monthly consumption of electricity should be less than or equal to 200 units
- Electricity bills are paid
- Monthly income must be less than Rs 50,000
- Not owe any money to any financial institution

On that note, the things which make you ineligible for this scheme are as follows:
- Electricity Theft
- Defected meters
- More than one meter for a single residential building
- More than 3 late payments in 12 months (default payments)
- Non-payment of electricity bills
