In a surprising twist, PTI’s MNA, Sher Afzal Marwat, is reportedly returning to PTI after his meeting with the party’s founder, Imran Khan. Just a month ago, news circulated on social media that he was being expelled from the party due to his non-cooperative behaviour, but this was denied by the party’s chairman, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. Marwat’s return to party marks a significant turnaround, coming shortly after he received a show-cause notice on May 11 for violating the party’s code of conduct and policy.
Sher Afzal Marwat, thus, made his comeback again and stated that Imran Khan warmly welcomed him again in his party and has also been given the responsibility of organizing a peaceful public gathering on Aug 22. Hence, following a period of absence, Marwat’s return to party is seen as strengthening party leadership.
Regarding this responsibility, Marwat said, “I told him that people are ready to come out. Just give me the responsibility then whatever the consequence would be, they would be on us. Because we want to take out the people for your sake.” However, he further asserted, “On Khan’s instructions, I have ended any reservation I had against the [party] leadership. I have forgiven everyone from my end. The matter is now buried after talking with Khan.”
Marwat stated that he is grateful for the love and respect of PTI founder towards him and will never leave the party. He also cleared the previously circulated notification about his suspension from the party and stated that it was all “fake” and was just a media hype. However, when he was asked about his terms and differences with other party leaders like Shibli Faraz and Omer Ayub, he said:
“There were differences before which have now come to an end. You will no longer hear anything from my mouth about them.” He also apologized for his past remarks about the party leaders and said that now there are no differences and is grateful for the party’s founder that he warmly greeted and welcomed him.
Marwat’s return to party comes after extensive discussions with key party figures signals a potential shift in party dynamics. Hence, his return can reshape the party’s trajectory towards positive development in the future as it heads into the next phase of its journey.
