On Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly ruled out the Pakistani right-arm fast bowler, Amir Jamal, from the Test Series against Bangladesh due to him being unfit for the match. The Test Series against Bangladesh is scheduled to begin on August 21 but the National Cricket Academy, Lahore, has advised Jamal to focus on his recovery. He was initially included in the team playing against Bangladesh, but recently, the PCB declared him unfit subject to his back injury which he sustained while playing country cricket this year. Hence, the fast bowler will not be playing the Test Series against Bangladesh.
The Pakistan Cricket Board issued a statement, that reads: “Right-arm fast bowler Aamir Jamal has been released from the Test squad ahead of the series against Bangladesh. Aamir, who was earlier included in the squad subject to fitness clearance, has been advised to work on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. Aamir is recovering from a back injury which he sustained while playing county cricket this year.”
Furthermore, it is pertinent to mention another update here that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also announced on Sunday to shift the Test Series against Bangladesh from Karachi to Rawalpindi stadium. The reason which the board mention is the ongoing construction work being done at the National Bank Stadium Karachi, therefore, the venue has been shifted to Rawalpindi.
Regarding the subject matter, the PCB said, “Given that construction must continue uninterrupted to ensure the venue is operationally ready for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the PCB, after consulting all stakeholders and reviewing operational and logistical matters, has decided to hold both Tests in Rawalpindi.”
Furthermore, due to the ongoing monsoon rains in the country, the first match of the Test series against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi is expected to be delayed. Regarding this situation, the Pakistani all-rounder Salman Ali Agha, said, “Rain is not in our control, we don’t think much about it. What we know is that the conditions are not new to us, and we know it will help our fast bowlers.”
