In a recent development, the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) has announced that the results of the Screening Test for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2023 will be declared null and void. The screening test, held on August 10, 2023, saw only a small number of candidates achieve the passing threshold of 50% marks. As a result, during a meeting on Thursday, the commission decided to annul the test results and reschedule the exam for a later date.
The commission also discussed the implications of the low pass rate during a meeting held on August 22, 2024. They emphasized that if the screening test is not declared null and void, many of the posts could remain vacant in future processes, as the students may once again struggle to achieve the passing marks in the written portion of the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE). For this very cause, the commission has decided to reconduct the screening test for CCE-2023.
It is pertinent to mention here that the commission has also advised students to come with a full fledge preparation and to put extra efforts this time in order to pass the test. The decision aims to highlight that the criteria for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) are free and fair and based on merit for all the students.
The syllabus for the screening test of SPSC consists of five sections. It includes:
- English (25%)
- Everyday Science (15%)
- Pakistan Affairs (20%)
- Current Affairs (20%)
- Islamic Studies (5%)
While, it should be noted that 27,060 candidates applied for the test and they appeared in different centers in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana.
