In a latest technological move, Pakistan is going to present its top 10 green energy or climate-focused startups at COP-29 which is going to take place at Baku, Azerbaijan this November. Under this initiative, the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Islamabad Campus, has designed state-of-the-art “Green Tech Hub (G-TH)” to showcase at the COP-29.
However, it is pertinent to mention here that the initiative aims to focus on promoting green energy initiatives which reduce the impact and production of greenhouse gases and provide sustainable solutions to cater to the issues of climate change. Moreover, the company that funds the tech startups, Ignite, stated at the launch of G-TH that they are going to select ten promising startups related to agritech, energy and other related sectors to participate in COP-29.
The CEO of Ignite, Salaal Hassan, stated that this move will open the job opportunities for Pakistanis and will broaden the horizon for the country if any of the ten selected startups gets approved at COP-29. He said, “We are seeking the top 10 startups working in agritech, energy and other sectors to sponsor and take to COP29. Young innovators should focus on solutions to combat climate change.”
Aisha Humera, the Ministry of Climate Change Secretary, also presented her view point at the launch of G-TH at NUST, stating that Pakistan is one of those countries that contribute less than 1% in terms of climate change but has been badly affected by it.
She further stated, “This Green-Tech Hub provides a dedicated space for young innovators to market green solutions and engage with industry, addressing climate challenges head-on.We aim to help young innovators connect with the industry to market their ideas and products, promoting green solutions.”
