In a remarkable achievement, Oman has launched its first ever Omani satellite with the name “Sultanate” along with the cooperation of International Telecommunication Organization (ITU). It should be noted that the company, Oman Lens, has achieved this historical feat by incorporating the satellite with specialized remote sensing and earth observation technologies.
However, it is pertinent to mention here that the satellite has also been equipped with artificial intelligence technologies as Oman marks its name in the list of countries contributing in space technology and advanced optical satellites. The Sultanate satellite, also called as OL-1 Satellite, has been equipped with artificial intelligence computing technologies and is able to capture high-resolution and precise images of Oman’s landscape, infrastructure and natural resources.
Moreover, the company, Oman Lens, has launched and implemented this initiative under “Oman Vision 2040” that aims to launch a “constellation of satellites over the next five years”. It should be noted that the satellite provides data at a reasonably high speed to the public which further enhances its operational efficiency and places the country in the list of countries contributing globally to the space sector.
