Delegates from different countries have started arriving in Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit ahead. Similarly, the Chinese premier, Le Qiang, has also landed at Noor Khan Airbase today for the official 4-day visit in lieu of the summit ahead. The Chinese Premier, Le Qiang, has been welcomed by Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, in Islamabad. The Premier was also given 21-gun salute and a floral welcome on his arrival to Pakistan.
However, it is pertinent to mention here that the two leaders discussed different bilateral, regional and global issues. They also virtually inaugurated the Gwadar International Airport as it is considered an important aspect of the multi-billion-dollar CPEC project. It should be noted that Li Qiang also acknowledged CPEC an important milestone and the two premiers have discussed issues related to the safety of the Chinese working in Pakistan.

They also signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation in different sectors, majorly focusing on expanding the CPEC project and modernizing it further. Furthermore, the MOUs revolve around strengthening cooperation in sectors including trade, infrastructure and developmental projects.
Apart from this, the Chinese Premier, Le Qiang, said, “I am pleased to participate in the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting. I look forward to deeper exchanges between China and Pakistan through this visit. Pakistan remains committed to its reform and development efforts.” He acknowledged the strengthened relationship of China with Pakistan and stated that China is always making efforts to put Pakistan on the path to success and development.
It should be noted that Le Qiang will remain in Pakistan till October 17 along with other Chinese ministers including those from Chinese foreign ministry, trade and China International Development Cooperation Agency. As per reports, he will also meet Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, other parliamentary as well as military officials during his visit.
