Weeks of violent protests in Bangladesh and the departure of Sheikh Hasina, the ex-premier, have spurred waves of fear and ambiguity throughout the country. However, after the dissolution of Parliament by the President of Bangladesh yesterday and the decision to appoint Mohammad Younus as the new head of the interim government, the situation now seems to be returning to normalcy. Pakistan, on the other hand, has also released an official statement depicting concerns regarding the situation prevailing in Bangladesh and demonstrating hope that stability in Bangladesh is again on the cards.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, said in a statement, “The government and people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with the people of Bangladesh, sincerely hoping for a peaceful and swift return to normalcy.” Furthermore, she also showed confidence in the Bangladeshi people that their resolute faith and spirit would allow them to attain a harmonious future. Their willpower to take a stand on one decision for the betterment of themselves and ultimately for the future of the country will prove beneficial for the stability in Bangladesh, she said.
In addition to that, President Mohammed Shahabuddin has also announced, in coalition with the military, that “Muhammad Younus” will be serving as the head of the interim government. It should be noted that the students in Bangladesh demanded only Muhammad Younus to lead the next government, as they consider it essential to bring stability in Bangladesh.
It should be noted that the leader of the student group, Nahid Islam, also confirmed the appointment of Mohammad Younus. Furthermore, the President, Muhammad Shahabuddin also stated, “The president has asked the people to help ride out the crisis. The quick formation of an interim government is necessary to overcome the crisis.” Hence, all these steps are transforming the situation towards stability in Bangladesh.
