In a recent news, the federal government has re-imposed Section 144 in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) citing the upcoming Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) protest on November 24th. The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad issued the order stating that all types of public gatherings including religious and political will be completely banned in the capital in order to ensure public security and maintain law and order.

However, it is pertinent to mention here that the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, has announced a big peaceful protest on November 24th in the federal capital, Islamabad, and general public from Punjab and KPK has been called to march towards the city. It should be noted that the PTI leadership has been directed to lead convoys from all directions and meet at one point in Islamabad. However, the leadership has not yet announced the exact location of protest.
It should be noted that the PTI leadership has stated that this peaceful protest will decide the fate of the country and they will not turn back until their demands are met. A statement from PTI social handle, reads, “This will be the day of decision, when it will be decided who will remain in my party and who will not.”
On that note, the government has imposed Section 144 in Islamabad depicting the security threats which this protest may pose to the city and the residents. Not to mention, the previous imposition of Section 144 came to an end in Islamabad yesterday which was imposed due to the smog crisis.
