In a recent news, the Pakistani government has made biometric verification mandatory for international passengers at all airports of Pakistan. It should be noted that the Interior Ministry has issued a notification to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to install the biometric verification machines at all Pakistani airports in order to enhance border security across Pakistan.
However, it is pertinent to mention here that as per this directive, the international passengers will be required to undergo through the process of biometric verification before boarding their flights. According to the Interior Ministry, the step would not only improve the security parameters across the country, detect and scan the suspects easily but will also align the Pakistan’s airport security standards to the international ones.
The move has also come after the deadly incident that occurred on Oct 6 near to Karachi Airport which resulted in the killing of Chinese nationals. According to Sindh Interior Minister, Zia ul Hassan Lanjar, “The security of CPEC and non-CPEC affiliated Chinese citizens must be coordinated and effective at every level. The sponsors must also be made aware of their responsibilities regarding the arrival and security of foreigners in Sindh.”
