The Saudi Crown Prince, Muhammad Bin Salman, has been making efforts since long to normalize Saudi-Israel ties, but recently, he reported that he fears his assassination due to the ongoing efforts of normalization. The US publication, politico, reported that the Crown Prince, while in talks with the US Congress member has expressed his concerns. The push to normalize Saudi-Israel ties is seen as a concerning and significant shift in regional politics.
He also referenced an Egyptian Leader, Anwar Sadat, who met the same fate when he achieved a peace deal with Israel in 1980s. Mentioning the historic fact, Muhammad Bin Salman has asked, “What did they do to protect Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat?” However, the Saudi King considers that normalizing Saudi-Israel ties could lead to major economic and political benefits for both nations.
It is pertinent to mention here that he also expressed the need to normalize Saudi ties with Israel as a mandatory step in order to achieve peace in Gaza. However, as per politico, the Crown Prince, Muhammad Bin Salman, has remained determined to achieve this deal with Israel and is also ready to face any risks involved.
As this would be a peace ‘deal’, so both parties will be benefiting from this. As reported by Politico, the peace deal would allow the Saudis to get security guarantees, aid for a nuclear program and economic investment as well. As a result, Saudi Arabia will be limiting its ties with China and establishing diplomatic relations with Israel.
