The Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) is all set to hold a rally in the Federal Capital, Islamabad at Tarnol Chowk, Peshawar Road tomorrow. The Islamabad rally is focused on securing Imran Khan’s release from prison, following court orders. He has been detained since last year. Despite the concerns, PTI leaders have confirmed that the Islamabad rally will proceed as planned, even without official permission.
However, the No Objection Certificate (NOC) was first issued to the party but now it has been revoked by the district administration on the “report of the district intelligence committee”. The IG Islamabad stated that it has some security concerns as some other events are also going to take place in the same location tomorrow. Hence, the NOC has been suspended for PTI rally tomorrow.
It should be noted that Shoaib Shaheen, PTI’s lawyer, first submitted a plea to the Islamabad High Court last night requesting the re-issuance of the NOC. However, the DC Islamabad rejected the plea and canceled the NOC for tomorrow’s rally. Sher Afzal Marwat tweeted:
Moreover, Ali Amin Gandapur has called on the party workers to come to Tarnol Chowk tomorrow in a video message:
It is pertinent to mention here that Ali Amin Gandapur, a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) has not agreed to this suspension of the NOC and called on the party workers to come out and participate in the rally tomorrow. He said that we will be doing a peaceful protest amid all the challenges and stated that the rally will still be on time tomorrow despite the restrictions from the Federal government.
The Islamabad rally has become a focal point of political tension in the capital. Gohar Sial, the anchorperson and Journalist, tweeted:
