The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken legal action against journalist and YouTuber Imran Riaz Khan, accusing him of launching a campaign against the judiciary on social media platforms. According to a report by Express News on Wednesday, the case stems from allegations that Imran Riaz Khan was using his online presence to criticize and undermine the judicial system.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle in Islamabad has officially registered a case against journalist Imran Riaz Khan, along with six others, accusing them of running an anti-judiciary campaign online. The individuals named in the case include Mujahid Ali Shah, Allah Nawaz Khan, Sohail Ahmed, Umar Sadiq, Sadiq Anjum, Musadiq Abbasi, and Tariq Saleem.
The complaint was filed by Ahmad Sadiq Khan, a resident of G-14, Islamabad, under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) Section 20 for “violation of privacy.” The case also includes charges related to issuing threats and abetment, signaling the seriousness of the allegations against the group. The FIA’s move comes as part of its efforts to address concerns over the misuse of social media platforms to target state institutions.
Following the registration of the case by the FIA Cyber Crime Circle, the arrest of the accused is expected soon. Media reports indicate that the investigation may expand, with similar cases potentially being filed against other vloggers and YouTubers involved in online campaigns. As the case progresses, it could set a significant precedent for how online speech is monitored and regulated in Pakistan.
