In a disturbing incident, a helicopter containing two pilots and an engineer, crashed at Bavdhan in Pune, on October 2. The crash occurred at early morning right after takeoff. It should be noted that the helicopter caught fire right after it crashed which made it almost impossible to have any chances of survivors. However, the local police have identified the three victims involved in the crash as pilots Girish Kumar Pillai and Paramjit Singh and engineer Pritamchand Bharadwaj.
It is pertinent to mention here that the cause of the crash is still unknown as the aircraft investigation authorities stated that it will be known on a detailed investigation of the aircraft and the conditions surrounding it. Not to mention, the local police authorities stated that there was dense fog in the area and there are high chances that it might have caused a crash.
Another detail to mention here is that the helicopter belongs to the Delhi-based firm “Heritage Aviation” and the videos reported from the location of the crash have shown a massive wreckage and heavy flames all around. The Joint Commissioner of Police for Pimpri Chinchwad, Shashikant Mahavarkar, stated that the incident happened around 7:30 am in the morning when the helicopter took off from Oxford Golf Club and then it crashed within minutes.
The chief fire officer Devendra Potphode, stated, “When we reached the spot, we saw that the chopper had crashed and all its parts were scattered. We were able to extract three casualties, and these were handed over to the police.”
It should be noted that the helicopter was heading to Mumbai and it has been chartered by the opposition Nationalist Congress Party.
