In a tragic accident, a Cessna Caravan turboprop aircraft crashed in a Bangkok Forest, claiming the lives of all nine onboard. The plane has been identified as ‘Cessna Caravan C208B turboprop’ having two Thai pilots on board including five Chinese and two Thai passengers as reported. The plane crashed in a mangrove forest in Bangkok and as per air traffic control authorities, the plane lost contact 10 minutes right after it departed from Bangkok’s International airport at 2:46 pm local time.

However, the cause of the Cessna turboprop crash still remains unclear as the crash happened in such a location in a forest where mud and water from the nearby river is making the search operation extremely difficult and extensive for the rescue workers. As per Chachoengsao provincial office of the government’s public relations department, the Cessna turboprop plane was heading towards the eastern Trat province.

As per the initial investigations from the residents of the Chachoengsao’s Bang Pakong district, the Cessna turboprop plane fell from the sky and “explode loudly”. They stated the debris and fire from the plane also caused destruction to the nearby homes. As per one of the eye-witnesses, “I was sitting in front of my house. The plane flew over my house with a loud engine sound. Just seconds after that it crashed just here, with a loud crash.”

It is pertinent to mention here that the rescue authorities recovered nearly 70 body parts from the location and asserted the fact that it is becoming extremely difficult to continue the search operation as the mangrove forest is filled with mud and water from a nearby river. Moreover, the night has fallen there which is making the situation even more complex. Photos and videos of the incident circulating on the social media clearly depicts that the rescue workers are doing the search operation by wearing headlamps.

One intriguing aspect of this Cessna turboprop aircraft is that it lacks a black box and communicates directly with air traffic control. Therefore, the authorities will now investigate the cause of the crash through the wreckage of the aircraft.
