A bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims was overturned, resulting in the loss of 35 passengers. Authorities are investigating the cause of the deadly bus crash in Iran that resulted in the loss of 35 lives.
The accident took place in the city of Iran, Yazd in which 35 passengers were killed and 15 were injured. Among the 15 injured, some are in critical condition.
The accident occurred on Tuesday night at 9:54 pm. A total of 53 pilgrims were travelling in the bus. The recent bus crash in Iran has raised serious concerns about the safety of pilgrim transportation routes.
The journey of the bus started from Larkana, the city of Sindh. 10 passengers were from Khyberpur and 6 from Kashmur.
The pilgrims were travelling from the Sindh to Iraq’s holy city Karbala to participate one of the biggest events in the Shia calendar, pilgrimage, known as Arbaeen (means number 40 in Arabic) which is celebrated by the Shia community in remembrance of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The bus was overturned due to defective brakes and caught fire in front of Dehshir-Taft checkpoint in Iran, according to reports by local media.
Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Shareef expressed their condolences on the loss of human lives in this accident.
Meanwhile, the Interior Minister of Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of precious human lives in the bus accident in Iran.”
The incident took place because the driver of the bus was unfamiliar with the road, high speed and technical problem. Iran is already notorious for its poor roads and poor traffic safety record, which is among one of the worst in the world. Families are grieving after the devastating bus crash in Iran that killed 35 Pakistani pilgrims.
