Despite strong warnings from Western nations, Iran, on Tuesday, rejected the plea to avoid an attack on Israel. The Islamic Republic of Iran considers Israel responsible for the death of Hamas’s top leader, Ismail Haniyeh, and a senior commander of Hezbollah, and therefore, plans to attacking Israel. Considering these circumstances, Iran has strongly rejected the Western demands to not attack Israel in a press statement.
The US, on the other hand, has deployed an aircraft carrier along with guided missile submarines in order to support Israel against the Iranian threat of attacking Israel. However, Iran is clear on its path to avenge Israel at the moment.
Nasser Kanani, the foreign ministry spokesperson for Iran, stated, “The declaration by France, Germany, and Britain, which raised no objection to the international crimes of the Zionist regime, brazenly asks Iran to take no deterrent action against a regime that has violated its sovereignty and territorial integrity.” He further said, “Such a request lacks political logic, flies in the face of the principles and rules of international law, and constitutes public and practical support for Israel.”
The Western countries, including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, and Italy, said in a joint statement:
“We called on Iran to stand down its ongoing threats of attacking Israel militarily and discussed the serious consequences for regional security should such an attack take place.”
According to analyst Esfandyar Batmanghelidj, “The renewed push for a ceasefire offers Iran a way out of this escalatory cycle. Iranian officials still feel obliged to hit back at Israel, but they must do so in a way that doesn’t derail the prospects for a ceasefire summit.” On that note, the threat of Iran attacking Israel is escalating amidst the instability in the the Middle East, which shows no signs of peace.
