In a distressing event, a South Korean airliner, Jeju Air, Flight 7C226, having 181 people on board crashed on Sunday morning after the airline tried to land on its belly as apparently, the landing gear of the aircraft seized to open during landing. This caused the airliner to land on its belly but the attempt was unfortunate as the airliner immediately burst into fire, as reported by South Korean ministry.
It should be noted that the aircraft was Boeing 737-800 and twin-engine airliner but the crash caused 127 people on board reported as dead as per the latest reports. The ministry declared it a deadliest air crash of a South Korean airliner in three decades. However, the Muan fire chief Lee Jung-hyun stated, “Only the tail part retains a little bit of shape, and the rest of (the plane) looks almost impossible to recognise.”
Not to mention, the airliner was heading from Thai capital Bangkok to Muan International Airport. However, it should be noted that it has been only three weeks since the airliner started its flights from Muan to Bangkok. Boeing expressed its condolences in a statement regarding the incident, “We are in contact with Jeju Air regarding flight 2216 and stand ready to support them. We extend our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones, and our thoughts remain with the passengers and crew.”
The Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also expressed condolences in a statement as, “In this hour of grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and with the people and Government of the Republic of Korea.”
